Facebook vs Twitter

 Facebook y Twitter son las dos plataformas 2.0, en la Red, más importantes a nivel global. Son usadas por millones de personas, incluidos  personajes públicos de todo tipo: Actores y actrices, cantantes, futbolistas e incluso políticos.

Sin embargo, Twitter y Facebook, ni son utilizadas por el mismo tipo de gente. ni con los mismos objetivos.

 

Soren Gordhamer, en Mashable, considera que la diferencia más importante entre Facebook y Twitter radica en en el tipo de usuarios, tanto de las redes sociales como de microblogging.

 

Sobre cuándo hacer uso de Twitter y de Facebook, Gordhamer piensa que hay un creciente grupo de personas que se esfuerzan por utilizar cada día más las redes sociales, y lo hacen con fines muy distintos. Aunque en la superficie muchas redes sociales parecen ser similares, debemos comprender los diferentes roles que se pueden adoptar on line para así usarlas con habilidad.

Si eres un personaje público debes mantener una buena cuenta de Twitter. Dice Jay Adams

“Take a few minutes each day and tweet a couple of things your followers will find valuable in your niche. The more, the better, but if you’re pressed for a time, a few minutes each day is good enough. It’s important that you don’t let a day pass without at least checking in and seeing if anyone has mentioned you in a tweet.”

The Microblogging Boom

Microblogs were first known as tumblelogs. The term was coined by Why [the lucky stiff] in April 12, 2005, while describing Christian Neukirchen’s Anarchaia:

“Blogging has mutated into simpler forms (specifically, link- and mob- and aud- and vid- variant), but I don’t think I’ve seen a blog like Chris Neukirchen’s Anarchaia, which fudges together a bunch of disparate forms of citation (links, quotes, flickrings) into a very long and narrow and distracted tumblelog.” (Wikipedia)

Jason Kottke (2005) described tumblelogs as

Web Communication Tools (course 2010-11)

Web Communication Tools is a new subject I’m teaching in second year of Modern Languages and Humanities at the University of Deusto, and it is the first time I do it under the new format adapted to the Bologna model.

As it is mentioned in the syllabus (for this course 2010-11)

[The main objective is to learn] how to make the best of alternative tools to email for web communication, such as social networks, blogs, forums, microblogging and wikis.
