Oh, Saigon

Doan Hoàng Deustuko Unibertsitatean egon da “Oh, Saigon”  dokumental autobiografikoa erakusten.  Neska vietnamita- amerikar honen aurkezpenak jende asko hunkitu eta askoren ezagutzak zabaldu zituen (ni barne) Vietnam-go guda izan zena bezalako gertaera historiko gogor eta mingarriaren gainean; beraz, ikusi nuen momentutik, hurrengo post honetarako gai aproposa iruditu zitzaidan, eta horrela, ikusteko aukera izan ez zutenengana ere iristeko aprobetxatuko dut.

Accompanied by gripping images from the war, ‘Oh, Saigon’ is an in-depth, compelling documentary about one refugee family’s attempts to face its divided past and heal the physical and emotional wounds of the Vietnam War.

A Vietnamese family attempts to resolve its divided past when three brothers — one capitalist, one communist, one anti-war — who fought against each other in the Vietnam War meet again after decades and confront their differences. Meanwhile, two first generation Vietnamese American sisters try to reconcile a difficult past that altered the course of their lives.

En estos tiempos en los que las noticias vuelan a través de las redes informáticas y las conexiones vía satélite, me he detenido un poco para hechar la vista atrás y recordar la que quizá fue la primera guerra mediática de la historia. La guerra de Vietnam, una guerra que marcó un antes y un después en la vida de una generación; un conflicto que marcó nuestra niñez y que nos fue mostrado con toda su cruedeza,  a través de la televisión. La guerra se colaba en nuestro salón a la hora de cenar, gracias al trabajo de un puñado de periodistas que arriesgaban la vida para mostrarle al mundo un conflicto, cruel como ninguno, que dio origen a muchos cambios en la sociedad de la época.
