Niagarank

Are social networks important in journalism? The answer to this question is yes.Because social netwa27ecdbc6ec9a382e5b53d414046e3a9orks  have increased their importance in journalism, and as several  innovations have  been done in this field, information now is more accesible for people.

Twitter is one of those social networks which  have  reached an important place in the realm of communication. But why  is it so important? The answer is simple, it is the social network with the biggest connection to the concept of news and information. It gives us the possibility of creating our own channel by selecting our friends and apart from that we can create close circles.  Apart from that it is important to remember that social media is a quite useful informative tool because we usually get information through those channels.

After saying that it must be said that there can be found several tools that help us in this purpose of using Twitter for comunicating.  One of the most interesting tools we can find are  paper.li and Niagarank . The last one is the latest innovation in our country. By using Twitter  it aggregates the most important tweets at the moment, and this means that  it talks about the most popular comments and topics that are being discussed by people.

If we make a deeper analysis of Niagarank, it should be said that it  is a new step in the kind of products that have been developed  in the last years by CodeSyntax. The name is simbolycally connected to a waterfall of news and the ranking that is used to clasify those news. But the most important thing is to know can it be done? To reach this purpose Niagarank follows several users of Twitter and makes a ranking, it aslo ranks the kind of comments those people do.  And as a result of us they publish the most interesting kind of information that can be found in that social network through 42 different channels.

It can be said that Niagarank is a tool that is increasingly growing in Spain, and  the aim is to reach audience in general, but more exactly people that is thirsty for news in different subjects. Apart from that it  can be used from almost any device from tablets to smartphones. It follows almost the same structure that uses  Pinterest and has been widely extended.

Free topic post. “My favorite vlogger: Charlie McDonnell”

December 7, 2012 Leave a comment

As an English student I’ve always been looking for ways to improve the way I speak and I understand this language and the Internet has helped me a lot during these years because watching videos in English is the best thing anyone can do to improve their listening and speaking. One day I was looking for some videos and I found some people who called themselves vloggers. I didn’t know what that was so I made a bit of research and I found out that they were video bloggersm people who made videos and uploaded them on YouTube to share their opinions or experiences with the general public.

So I started visitqtei6ddc0ir3uzciqe5ving their YouTube channels and there was one that I really liked by a British boy from Bath called Charlie McDonnell. He was the perfect vlogger for me. He spoke English perfectly, (because he was English of course) and he also spoke about interesting things like science and books, not like other vloggers who talked about what they did on their holidays and that stuff. I became a fan of his videos instantly and I also found out that he was becoming popular each day which I really liked because even my friends had watched his videos. His channel “charlieissocoollike”became the first UK channel to reach a million subscribers and it was even spotlighted on the YouTube’s front page.

The great thing about Charlie is that he was improving his videos each day and that he really dedicated time to create them. He also cared about what his viewers thought about them and he asked them about how he could improve. He also was famous because he created different series of videos like the “Challenge Charlie” series, were people sent him challenges that later he would accomplish in a new video and the “Fun Science” series were he explained science in an easy way that everyone could understand (even me!)

But Charlie is not just a Youtuber, he is also a musician.  Later on he started uploading his own songs and they also became very popular, like “Duet with myself” which reached more than seven million plays. After seeing his success he created a music band with some fellow YouTubers like his best friend Alex Day or “nerimon” who is also a vlogger that I really recommend you to watch. This band is called “Chamaleon Circuit” honoring the British show Doctor Who which they adore.

But, what is really special about this YouTuber is that he uses his success and his millions of viewers around the globe to help other people. He and Alex are always participating in charity projects and doing television appearances to raise money for different organizations. The most famous one was in 2011 when they shaved their heads to raise money for UK’s Cancer Research.

I don’t know if I can find a reason why I have chosen him for my post but I think that I have done it because I want to share his amazing work with all of you and I would be happy if just one of you become a fan of his videos. The guy deserves it because he cares about his work like no one. So, why don’t we get started?

Babesturik al gaude Twitterren?

Microbloggingean oinarritzen den sare soziala da. Nahiz eta sare sozial honek oso denbora gutxi izan, erabiltzaile asko dauzka erregistratuta. Egunean 500.000 erabiltzaile gehitzen dira Twitter sarera. Hainbeste jendek erabilita are gehiago, pribatutasuna bermatua al dago bost urte eskas dituen sare sozial berri eta inobatzaile honetan? Sare sozialen eta identitate birtualen aniztasuna

December 20, 2011 Leave a comment

Kateryna Andriyenco el Levante blogean sare sozialei buruz mintzatu da. Sare sozialekin egondako eztanbaidarekin eta erabiltzaileek sortutako mamiagatik, gaur egun normala da erabiltzaile batek atari edota sare sozial desberdinetan  kontu bat sortzea, non hornitzaileak anitzak diren, oso. Parte hartzen den sistema horietan, erabiltzaileak identitate birtuala bat sortu behar du (erabiltzaile eta egiaztagiri bat lortuz), non normalean perfil bat izango duen. Read more…

Twitter: sorrera, oraina eta geroa

Artikulu honen bitartez Twitter mundu mailako sare sozialaren sorrera aztertzeaz gain (zein testuingurutan sortu zen, etab.), gaur egun bizi duen egoeraren berri emango dut (dela bere arrakastaren zergatiak, dela hedabideekin duen harremana, besteak beste). Gainera, egungo egoera oinarri harturik eta hainbait adituren iritzi zein aurreikuspenak kontutan izanik, Twitter sare sozialak aurrerantzean gara dezakeen etorkizuna izango dut ere hizpide. Twitter eskolan

Twitter-ek, sare sozial eta microblogging zerbitzuak, hainbat hezitzaileren arreta bereganatzea lortu du. Hauentzat tresna zinez baliagarria bilakatu da Twitter: batetik, eskolan erabiltzeko lanabes egokia delako, eta bestetik, hezkuntza arloko lankideen arteko zubi-lana burutu dezakeelako. Hauen artean George Mayo-ren kasua aipa dezakegu: twitter dela medio, bere ikasleen arteko ipuin baten idazketa proposatu zuen.

Microblogging eta sare-sozialak Rafael Nadalen taktikarik onena

Zein da Rafael Nadalen dohainik onena? Bere ezker paregabea izan litzateke, bere banana shot izugarria apika…bere oin joko itzela edota bere smash bortitza alegia. Baina ez, Nadalen jokoaren armarik onena tenis kantxetatik kanpo sare-sozialen bidez lorturiko enpatia da. Johanna Blackelyk, Southern Californiako Unibertsitateko irakasleak, dioenez ospetsuentzako inbertsioa dira sare-sozialak, haien bidez neurtzen baitute euren karreren .. Nolabait, Nadalek, beste famatuek bezala, bere jarraitzaileen berotasuna sentitu nahian microblogging eta sare-sozialetan murgildu da. Read more…

Elecciones y Twitter

December 19, 2011 1 comment

December 18, 2011 Leave a comment

Alfredo Pérez Rubalcaba, Espainiako Alderdi Sozialistako (PSOE) politikaria da. 2011. urtean Espainiar Gobernuko presidentziarako hautagai izan zen Hauteskunde Orokorretan. Rubalcabak sarean gehien lantzen duen arloa, sare sozialak dira, politikari gehienak bezalaxe. Silvina Moschinik esaten duen legez, “La inmediatez, el contacto constante, la posibilidad de llegar a miles de ciudadanos con una comunicación fluida y transparente, es un desafío planteado por los medios sociales que la política no puede eludir”[1]. Eta hori izan da hain zuzen ere Web Komunikazio Planean aztertuko dena: Rubalcabak sareaz egiten duen erabilera. Read more…

Twitterholic Politicians

In 2008, Barack Obama chose Twitter to thank for his victory in the elections (Cristina Pereda), and in three years time Twitter has reached 220 million users, having only one million in the year 2008 (Yolanda Monge). In 2011, six Spanish candidates out of ten owned a Twitter account in the elections in May (Albert Medrán). What is the reason behind this? In Medrán’s words, if politics is dialogue, discussion, debate and conversation, there is nothing closer than Twitter; but,  does all this have a real incidence in votes? Read more…

Spanish general elections 2011 and politicians Twitter attempt to win followers (and voters)

December 12, 2011 1 comment

Since Zapatero made public last July that the elections would be brought forward, the candidates from the different parties have been giving particular importance to Microblogging usage, specially on Twitter. Candidates have been tweeting what they were doing or, what they intended to do, if they reached the power. The Nielsen Study has analyzed the Twitter accounts of Alfredo Perez Rubalcaba (PSOE) and Mariano Rajoy (PP) and shows that both politicians twitters were quite inexpressive and not too well developed. Ester Mascaró, looking through the Study, confirms that both accounts were not optimized. Read more…

Twitter eta bere trending topic-ak

Telebista piztu, programaren bat jarri eta Twitter-eko helbideak ikustea ez da batere arraroa. Gero eta arruntagoa da telebistako saio askok bere populartasuna neurtzeko erabiltzen duten metodoa trendic topics-en begiratzea izatea. Espainian, dimentsio gehigarria edo bi-norabidetasuna hornitzeko erabilerak oso ezagunak dira.

Mikroblogintza, blogaren seme gazteena

December 12, 2011 Leave a comment

Pasa dira bost urte, Wired aldizkarian Paul Boutinek idatzitako artikulu bat irakurri eta, kamarada, gauzak nola aldatzen diren ikusi duzu.

“Zeure bloga idazten hasi behar al duzu? –dio artikuluaren hasierak– Hona lagun baten aholkua: ez egin. Eta honezkero bloga baldin badaukazu, kendu entxufea”.

Orain Twitter, Facebook eta antzekoen garaia bizi dugu, sare sozialen aroa, Interneteko azken zurrunbilo eroa; eta, Boutinek dioenez, blogek berrikuntzaren treneko txartela galdu dute. Zergatik? Lehen geltokia: dirua

“Blogosfera, behinola norbere adierazpenen eta pentsamendu argien oasi fresko izandakoa, ordaindutako gauzen tsunami batek ito du”.

Facing problematic aspects of digital identity

Stephen Wilson puts digital identity under the microscope and wonders why digital identity turns out to be such a hard problem. In fact,  people are social animals with deep seated intuitions and conventions around identity, but exercising our identities online has been hugely problematic. In response to cyber fraud and the password plague, there has been a near universal acceptance of the idea of Federated Identity. All federated identity models start with the intuitively appealing premise that if an individual has already been identified by one service provider, then that identification should be made available to other services, to save time, streamline registration, reduce costs, and open up new business channels. It’s a potent mix of supposed benefits, and yet strangely unachievable. Read more…

Facebook vs Twitter, marka komertzialek kontuan hartzeko alderdiak

Herbert Marshall Mcluhanek zioen publizitatea XX. mendeko arte formarik handiena zela. Baina 1980an hil zenean berak ez zekien hurrengo mendean, muga guztiak zeharkatuko zituela komunikazio komertzial teknika honek. Kapitalismo basatiaren eskutik ikaragarri garatu den teknika hau bide berriak zabaldu nahian dabil itsasoz gain uholdeetan ura bezala. Neoliberalismoaren adar honek interneten bere sustraiak ireki nahian dihardu azken hamarkadan. Twitter eta Facebook estrategia hauen adierazle aparta dira. Baina zer eduki behar da kontuan marka komertzialen mezua modu eraginkorrean hel diezaien erabiltzaileei?

Lehenik eta behin, produktu bat saltzeko ezinbestekoa da zehaztea norentzat zuzenduta dagoen. Twitterren eta Facebooken adin guztietako erabiltzaileak ageri dira. Nerabeek (18-22 artean) nahiago dute Twitter (%26) erabili Facebook (%16) baino. Eta 23-35 urteko taldearen artean pareko datuak jaso dira baina Twitter erabiltzailea joriagoak dira (%34). Batez ere, sare-sozialen demokratizazioa, arabiar eta asiar herrialde askotan, zerikusi handia izan du. Beraz, 18 eta 35 urteko aldean sar ditzakegu erabiltzaile gehienak oro har. Talde ugariena da, batik bat teknologiak erabiltzeko duten errastasunagatik, izan ere internetaren hasi diren belaunaldiak dira. Read more…
